CAN ANYONE RECEIVE FREE FURNITURE AND CLOTHING?


Yes, anyone with a verified need. Love Columbia provides full-life assessments before providing furniture and clothing. Often these immediate needs are just the visible signs of deeper issues. We can guide clients to a range of resources from housing assistance, healthcare, education, transportation, and money management coaching.




WHAT WON'T YOU ACCEPT?


  • Furniture with rips, tears, stains, breaks, pet hair or been smoked around
  • Pressboard furniture such as entertainment centers and desks
  • Furniture in need of deep cleaning or repair to be usable
  • Light fixtures, window treatments, carpeting, or other building materials




DO YOU ACCEPT APPLIANCES?


We do accept appliances like washers, dryers, refrigerators and freezers if they are five years old or newer and in working condition.




CAN I GET A TAX DEDUCTIBLE RECEIPT FOR MY DONATION?


Yes. The Furniture Bank is a 501(c)(3) organization. A donation receipt will be provided at the time of pickup. If you do not receive one at the time of your pick-up please email office@lovecolumbiamo.org




DO YOU ACCEPT CEILING FANS OR KITCHEN CABINETS?


As a rule of thumb, we don’t accept home improvement items like ceiling fans, water softeners, or cabinets. We’d encourage you to make donations like this to Habitat for Humanity’s Re-Store, 1906 Monroe Street, Columbia, Missouri 65201 (573) 815-9836, or email at showmehabitat@yahoo.com.




HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY PICK-UP?


It is recommended that you plan at least one week in advance for your pick-up to be scheduled. We are unable to offer same day or next day pick-ups. Our truck schedule is determined by zip code in order to make the best use of our financial resources and labor.




HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY PICK-UP?


• Communicate an accurate and complete list of items you are donating. • Remove all personal artifacts from the furniture before the movers arrive. • Make sure there is a clear path for the movers to take the items out. • We only pick up furniture items




DO YOU HAVE DUMPSTERS THAT WE CAN USE IF YOU CAN'T USE A DONATION?


We hope all our donations will help our clients directly or be sold in the Love Seat retail store. We use our dumpsters for the small number of donations we have to refuse for quality issues. There are dumping fees ranging from $5 to $25.




WHAT IS THE LOVE SEAT RESALE STORE REFUND POLICY?


All sales are final, except for electronics. Refunds or credit for up to seven days for electronics and appliances, if not working.
